Lou the Teacher:
It’s my passion to help uncover the layers which prevent people from using their
natural and authentic voices freely, wholeheartedly and healthily. The tools we use for singing are the tools we need for a healthy society, and it is often a reflection of society that we become so inhibited in our sound, whether for singing or speaking.
To have a voice (in the widest sense) and to sing is our birthright. It is always rewarding for me when I see the confidence-building and health-promoting consequences of this work. I would love to see, and hear, everyone who feels the desire to break out into song to fully engage with it, and not just in the
shower or the car! I enjoy teaching from the inside out. Through working on positive thought and confidence people often surprise themselves with the sound they can make.
I have been facilitating voice workshops and one-to-one tuition for many years. My aims are to sensitively and creatively help free the natural voice, using an approach that is completely non-judgmental. I enjoy creating a
space where both complete beginners and those with some experience can unlock their vocal potential and free their inner song. This is achieved in a supportive, non-threatening, sometimes playful, sometimes reflective
atmosphere. Having trained with a range of body/breath and sound practitioners I use a wide variety of techniques. Through creative exploration of breath, listening and hearing, movement, sound, song, rhythm and improvisation I teach how to release the whole voice. This process taps into its healing qualities, and the pure fun and enjoyment of vocal expression.
Whether you have experience or are just dreaming of your singing self, you are ALL most welcome to explore a vocal adventure with me and to see where it might take
you.
